Coaches

Jeremy has been a teacher at Riverside Secondary since 2007 where he is currently the Athletic Director. He has been coaching the boy's program since 2005. Jeremy’s playing experience includes a National Gold Medal with the U19 Provincial Team. He then went on to play for Simon Fraser University where he served as the team’s captain. Jeremy extended his playing career with the Vancouver Titans in the International Basketball League. Jeremy’s passion now is his children, which he coaches in a variety of sports. Jeremy started coaching with JABOGS when his eldest daughter joined in 2016.

Alanya has just recently finished her 4th season of basketball with Riverside Secondary and will join Capilano University next year. In her time at Riverside, Alanya has played at the senior level since 2016 and helped lead her team to the provincial championships, in both 2018 and 2019. This past year her team placed 1st in the Victoria Christmas tournament and 3rd in the Fraser Valley Championships.
Alanya was fortunate enough to have played for VK for 3 years, where her team won nationals in 2017 and placed in the finals in 2018. Being a part of this team has allowed her to travel and experience new competition outside of the country. It has also helped her develop more confidence both on and off the court and create long lasting friendships.
Alanya’s favourite part of coaching is being a role model for young women and helping them achieve their goals. She hopes to create a fun and empowering community by teaching them important life skills they can use on daily bases.
