Team training starts at the beginning of April and will run through the beginning of August with competition throughout Western Canada and the United States. Throughout tournament play, the U17 Program will have 2 teams in each competition.
We will have between two and four practice sessions each week to go along with 10 tournaments, including a National Championship - bballnationals.

Anthony started coaching as a grade 11 when he decided to take on his grade 8 basketball team in 2002. During that time he was also the captain of his senior basketball team and in his grade 12 year his team won a provincial championship. Anthony has coached at STA or Argyle ever since his first team in 2002. Anthony coached STA to back to back final 4’s and a 2nd place finish at the AA Provincials. While coaching at Argyle, Anthony’s grade 9 team won the provincial championship and his current junior team looks strong heading into this playoff season.
Anthony has been involved with a number of provincial teams and coached at the Center of Performance for 5 years. He has been an assistant coach for both U15 and U17 provincial teams, as well as a U14 Summer Games team that won the gold medal. Anthony has also been the head coach for a U14 Provincial team, and a summer games team that also won a gold medal.

Dany Charlery graduated from Brandon University in 2010, where he had a stellar basketball career. He was a 5 time Canada West All-Star, an All-Canadian, an all-CIS Final 8 All-Star, and CIS MVP Runner-Up. Dany still holds ranks in the CIS Canada West stats, including all-time leader in games started at 108, second in career steals, third in steals/game, and sixth in points scored. During the 2006 Brandon University silver medal run, TSN included one of Dany’s dunks in their TSN Top 10.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandon University, Dany moved to BC and started his coaching career. In October of 2010, he was an assistant coach for Quest Women’s Basketball. In 2012, Dany became the head coach for the Quest Women’s Basketball team and has since won two provincial championships. During their second championship run in 2014-15 Quest became the first team ever to record 21-0 season.
Danie Gardner grew up in Langley BC, where she played high school basketball at DW Poppy. Danie went on to play two years at UFV where she was coached by Bruce Langford. While there, she was named a BCCAA (now PacWest) All-Star while leading her team to a silver medal at CCAA Nationals. To finish her playing career, Danie moved back east and played for Dalhousie University. While at Dalhousie, Dani was a driving force behind her teams AUS Championship and their 6th place finish at nationals.
Danie has coached many different teams and age groups over the years. She was an assistant coach to Bruce Langford with the U17 provincial team when they won a Gold Medal. She was also the head coach at Trinity Western University from 2002-2007. Danie currently coaches at Langley Christian Secondary, the Hoopster Club (school club team), and now VK Basketball. Danie coached her LCS girls to a single A provincial championship in 2015, as well as a Fraser Valley championship in 2013 and 2015. Danie has two kids, a son Brennan (17) and a daughter Makenna (13), who she has coached on many different teams, including grade 8 girls, grade 8 boys, JR boys, and Hoopsters club where they won U13 metro league championship in the 2013-14 season, and were U13 club champions in 2015.
Chris Kennedy is in his 29th year of coaching basketball in BC beginning his coaching career as a grade 9 student at his former elementary school. Chris has coached all levels of school and club basketball from K through grade 12. While at McRoberts Secondary in Richmond in the 1990’s and early 2000’s he led four teams to the Boys Provincial Championships and was recognized with the Ken Wright Award for Coaching Excellence. Chris served for seven years on the BC High School Boys Basketball Executive, including three years as President.
Chris has also coached with various Basketball BC programs since 1994. He has coached at the BC Summer Games three times, and also is a former Head Coach of the U17 Boys Provincial Team and has served on the Elite Committee and Executive with Basketball BC. Chris has also been a key leader with the Richmond Youth Basketball League (RYBL) for the past decade. He has coached all levels including rep teams for girls and boys at the U12, U13 and U14 levels.
Chris is a former teacher and elementary and secondary principal. He is currently in his sixth year as Superintendent of Schools with the West Vancouver School District.
